Classique's Original Moonwalker RN

Jackson got his first title this weekend, and I put my first title on a dog at the same time! Jack got his third leg needed for his rally novice title. We have a long way to go, as he is struggling with focus in new settings. If he was able to perform in competition the way he performs in class he should be able to get perfect scores. Instead we're barely sqeaking by... or at least in one of the tests we barely squeaked by. In his second leg he got 3rd place out of 7...not too bad but I still think it should have been better! We'll just keep working on rally for a while and try to figure out the focus problems. But...for now we're celebrating a title!!!

National Post #1

Where to start? I'll put a few posts up, trying to include some vents from each day from the past week with pictures to follow. My grandfather passed away on Friday, so Chris and I decided not to leave for Oconomowac until Tuesday afternoon following the funeral in Preston, MO. Before the funeral, we spent a day at Pomme de Terre State Park. It was a lovely state park and the first time we've stayed at one. Unfortunately it was raining quite a bit so we didn't get to do too much, but while walking the dogs we saw plenty of wildlife: a beaver, jumping fish, geese, deer and lots of birds.

Tuesday we started the drive for Oconomowac and made it to the campsite around 2:00 in the morning. Poor Hilga is all nerves in the motor home and sat for the entire 11 hour drive, never laying down or going to sleep. I could tell she was feeling stiff the next few days when she was limping around, but she is feeling fine now. We were supposed to show Lemon in puppy sweeps on Wednesday, but ended up deciding to pull her. Instead, we slept in on Wednesday, checked in at the show, set up our grooming area, watched some events, did some shopping, checked out the team obedience, and just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Wednesday evening we set up a practice rally course at the campsite, which Jackson and his friends Zac and Mac practiced with him. Then we enjoyed a bbq with friends, despite the rain.

Happy Birthday Gafilkafish

Our little Hilga was 6 years old yesterday. I remembered this year, even if I don't post on the blog. She is already leaving her days at a "good dog" behind and starting her days as a fussy "old dog." Last night she was the fussiest when having her nails trimmed...not the norm if you know Hilga (verus Jack and Lemon). So anyways, we're so glad she is healthy and happy as she starts her 6th year!

One More Day

I thought I would be going crazy with excitement when we were only one day from leaving for specialty and vacation, but as always, time has gotten away from me. I spent the week leading up to finals (2 weeks ago) bragging to my law school friends that I had no finals during my last semester of law school. I then have spent the last 2 weeks writing like crazy to finish my writing requirement (thesis) that I procrastinated a bit on. That means it is Thursday afternoon and my paper has still not been submitted. The motor home is not cleaned or packed. The groceries have not been bought. The dogs have not been groomed...in fact their shampoo has not even arrived (I guess Fed-Ex lost track of time as well). The house has not been cleaned in preparation of my graduation bbq on the day of our return. The yard has not been mowed in preparation for a week away from the house. The new motor home parts have not been installed. And so on... I may be up late tonight, but I fully plan on having all of those things done before 5:00 pm tomorrow afternoon. Lets hope Fed-ex shows up at some point...
